The Dawn Redwood is a big, fast-growing deciduous conifer that can reach 100 feet or higher. It's distinguished by its feathery, fern-like leaf, which turns a brilliant russet-brown in autumn before falling off. Although it is a conifer, it differs from most evergreen conifers in that it sheds its leaves.
