The contorted filbert, commonly known as Harry Lauder's Walking Stick, is a tiny deciduous shrub or tree with unusually distorted, twisting, and corkscrew-shaped branches. These curved limbs give the plant a distinct and beautiful appearance, particularly during the winter when the leaves are absent. The plant also produces male and female flowers (catkins), with male catkins being bright yellow and hanging. It can grow to be 8-10 feet tall and wide.
